We are a young company "TOÏRO" installed in Algeria and in France. Our goal is to help and promote Kabylie crafts, by exporting the products to the European market, and thus help artisans to make a better living from their arts. In the Kabylie region of Algeria, women made homemade pottery for storing food in their homes. This art and this millennial know-how, still alive today, our project aims to promote it and make this heritage known, and thus keep alive this bridge of Berber culture.
About Kabylie region
Our craft is made in the city Tizi-Ouzou, located in the Kabyle region, 100 kilometers east of the capital Algiers. It has its own language and rich culture for more than a thousand years, and has continued to evolve to the present through various histories.
The Origin of TOÏRO
"Jyunin Toiro (十 人 十 色)”, a Japanese proverb, literally means everyone has its own nuance of colors. In other words, the world is full of diversity, and that is what makes each one of us unique. TOÏRO is phonetically close to the Arabic word طار = flying: having the sense of dancing in the sky, flying freely.
